The Grand Ducal Police have reported that several intoxicated individuals were placed in police custody in separate incidents in Bonnevoie, Dippach and Luxembourg City on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 September 2026.
According to the police, at around 21:00 on Wednesday, a patrol was in the area of the church in Bonnevoie when a man who had previously been checked approached the officers again. The man was visibly under the influence of alcohol, became increasingly uncooperative and repeatedly failed to comply with requests to keep his distance.
He then reportedly made a movement towards an officer with a clenched fist and had to be brought under control. As he was considered a danger to himself and others and was disturbing public order, he was placed in a police cell to sober up following a medical examination.
A short time later, police were notified of a physical altercation involving three people on Route de Luxembourg in Dippach. One of those involved was later located near a shopping centre on Route de Longwy in Bertrange. The man was heavily intoxicated, displayed strong mood swings and was at times uncooperative towards officers. As he repeatedly staggered towards the road and could not be left on his own, he was also taken into custody following a medical examination.
During the night leading into Thursday, a police patrol carrying out an operation near a nightclub on Avenue de la Faïencerie in Luxembourg City was repeatedly disturbed and insulted by an intoxicated man. Officers established that he was barely able to remain on his feet. As he was disturbing the peace and was considered a danger to himself and others, he was also placed in a police cell to sober up following a medical examination.
Reports were drawn up in connection with the incidents.
