On Sunday 23 August 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported several incidents which resulted in two arrests following violent thefts and two people being taken into custody in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie.
Shortly before 17:00 on Saturday 22 August 2026, a person had a chain forcibly stolen from their neck on Rue du Fort Wallis in Luxembourg City. Police located the suspected perpetrator shortly afterwards. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the suspect was arrested and was due to appear before an investigating judge on Sunday.
Later that evening, a man was also the victim of a violent theft on Rue du Fort Neipperg. According to the police, an individual approached the victim and began dancing close to him before ripping a gold chain from his neck and fleeing towards Rue de Bonnevoie.
Police launched a search based on the description of the suspect and shortly afterwards located a person matching it. Witnesses also identified the man as the suspected perpetrator. He was taken to the police station and subsequently arrested on the orders of the Public Prosecutor's Office.
In a separate incident on Saturday morning, police received reports of two people fighting with bottles in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie. Officers established that the two men had already come to police attention several hours earlier over similar disputes.
According to the police, both men were under the influence of alcohol and did not calm down when officers arrived. They also insulted the officers. Following a medical examination, both were taken into custody as police determined that their condition caused a public disturbance and posed a danger to themselves and others.
