The Grand Ducal Police has reported three separate drink-driving incidents on Wednesday 29 July 2026, all of which resulted in the drivers' licences being confiscated.
During the early evening, police were notified of a heavily damaged car that had continued driving after colliding with a crash barrier on the N15 road. The vehicle was located shortly afterwards on Dorfstraße in Büderscheid. As the breath alcohol test returned positive, police confiscated the driver's licence.
Another incident occurred at around 19:00, when police were called to Rue de Hesperange in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie, where a heavily intoxicated man had damaged a parked vehicle while reversing out of a parking space. He also tested positive for alcohol. On the instructions of the public prosecutor's office, police seized both his driving licence and his vehicle.
Later the same evening, police received a report of a van whose driver had continued driving after colliding with several parked vehicles near Place de l'Exposition in Esch-sur-Alzette. The vehicle was found shortly afterwards in Rue Winston Churchill. The driver was found to have an elevated blood alcohol level, his driving licence was confiscated and the van was towed away.
The Grand Ducal Police confirmed that reports were drawn up in all three cases.
