Interior Minister Dan Kersch attended the official commissioning of a fire and rescue service hub as well as a workshop for fire and rescue services in the commune of Dippach on Friday last.
The technical hall with its annexes and the premises for the fire and rescue service are now located on a central site in the "op de Géieren" area.
The two buildings of the Fire and Rescue Centre consist of a garage, cloakrooms and sanitary facilities, workshops for maintenance, including insulating respirators, various storage rooms, a kitchen with a bathroom Office space, an instruction room, a laundry room and a tower for drying the pipes.
The low-energy building is equipped with solar panels for the production of hot water and photovoltaics as well as a tank with a capacity of 10,000 litres for the recovery of rainwater and supply the washing area.
The total cost was €6.4 million and includes state grants for the construction and fusion costs of the Bettange-Mess and Dippach fire brigades.
Minister Kersch welcomed the initiatives taken to merge the two bodies by regrouping 34 active firefighters and 17 young firefighters. "Beyond a simple pooling of resources, your strength lies in collaboration”, said the minister.
