The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, was in Luxembourg yesterday for ceremonies celebrating the signing of the Treaty of London in 1867, bringing an end to the Austro-Prussian War and entrenching Luxembourg’s status as a neutral state.
The Duchess, together with the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess, President of the Chamber of Deputies Mars Di Bartolomeo, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, Mayor Lydie Polfer, as well as representatives of the guarantor countries visited a new permanent exhibition at the Lëtzebuerg City Museum, "The Luxembourg Story: More than 1000 Years of Urban History”. The entourage then attended the opening of the “1867 - Luxembourg Ville Ouverte” at Musée Dräi Eechelen.
