The number of jobseekers in Luxembourg fell by 5.3% over the last year, with the number of available resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM at 16,475 as of March 31, 2017 a fall of 930 people on the same time last year. 

This is the 27th consecutive month of falling joblessness in the Grand Duchy, bringing the national unemployment rate to 6%, ie 0.1 points below the level of February 2017 and 0.5% below the level of March 2016.

The decline is widespread and also benefits vulnerable job-seekers such as jobseekers with health problems, down 7.6% over one year, low-skilled job-seekers, down 7.4%, and long-term unemployed, down 7.2%.

At the end of March this year, 5,374 people were allocated to an employment measure, down by 2.3% compared to March 2016’s 5,503 people.

In March this year, employers declared 3,191 vacant ADEM positions, 70 fewer than in March 2016.
