On Thursday 24 September 2026, the American Women's Club of Luxembourg (AWCL) hosted the first event of its season with a book reading by US-Luxembourgish influencer and author Mike McQuaide.
Mike McQuaide’s book, An American in Luxembourg, follows the personal journey of the freelance writer and avid cyclist who moved with his wife and son from Washington State in the United States (US) to Luxembourg City in early 2013. In the US, Mike wrote six guidebooks on outdoor recreation and travel and was the featured outdoors contributor to the travel section of The Seattle Times for twelve years.
The AWCL event included Mike McQuaide reading from his work and was followed by an audience Q&A and a book signing.
10% of sales of the book will go toward AWCL's Gifts for Kids charitable programme.
Rosana Greco, President of the American Women’s Club of Luxembourg said: “This is the first event of the season for the American Women's Club. It is an author’s night which offers the sale of the guest’s books and gets them in touch with American Women's Club community. 10% of the proceeds are going to our charity - Gifts for Kids - in which we give gifts to children of different foyers around the country on 6 December, St Nicholas Day.”
“It is an author's event and the American Women’s Club of Luxembourg invited me to do a reading. I read various selections from my two books and I'm very grateful to be invited to share my ‘nonsense’ with people. Hopefully they will get a kick out of it!” added Mike McQuaide.
