BLC Selects Ask for Angela, LACH as Charities for New Term

On Tuesday 15 September 2026, the British Ladies’ Club of Luxembourg (BLC) announced that during its recent Annual General Meeting, Amy Grech was re-elected as Chair and members selected the Club’s supported charities for the new term.

Held on 10 September 2026, the AGM brought members together to review the past year, elect the Club’s Board, select its charities for 2026-2027 and discuss its upcoming programme of charitable, entrepreneurial, social and activity-based initiatives.

The Club’s Board remains largely unchanged, with Janet Macey continuing as Vice-Chair. Kristina Chilingarian was formally appointed as Secretary and joined the Board, alongside the continuing Membership Secretary and Treasurer.

BLC said that charitable activity remains at the heart of it. Four nominated organisations presented their work to members at the AGM: Tukwataniise ASBL, the Ukrainian Saturday School “Mriya”, the Luxembourg Association for Children in Hospital (LACH) and this year's Ask for Angela initiative. Following a vote by members attending in person and online, Ask for Angela and LACH were selected as the Club’s two supported charities for 2026-2027.

Through fundraising, events and communications, the BLC aims to help its chosen charities strengthen their visibility and make a local impact in Luxembourg. All four nominated organisations will also be featured in the BLC’s newsletter to raise wider awareness of their work.

An important part of the BLC’s charitable fundraising comes through raffles and other fundraising activities at its major events. These will include the upcoming Gala Night on Saturday 3 October 2026 and the annual Christmas Lunch in December, alongside the it’s annual Car Boot Sale at Parc Hotel Alvisse.

The AGM also looked back at a year in which the BLC broadened its activities and outreach. A particular highlight was the first Women’s Startup Pitch event in June 2026, supported by British Ambassador to Luxembourg Joanne Oliver and United States (US) Ambassador to Luxembourg Stacey Feinberg, together with the British Chamber of Commerce for Luxembourg. The initiative brought together aspiring women entrepreneurs, experienced mentors and members of Luxembourg’s business community.

Following the success of the first edition, the Women’s Startup Pitch event will return during the new term. The BLC’s new Female Founder Speaker Series is also set to make its debut in Q4 2026, creating further opportunities for women to hear directly from founders and entrepreneurs and build professional connections.

The Club is also developing a new Ladies Sports & Activities Day, offering women the opportunity to discover and try a broad range of activities. Plans include camping, archery, self-defence, rugby and chess, among other activities.

Alongside these newer initiatives, the BLC will continue its traditional programme of Quiz Nights, Christmas Lunch, Christmas Cocktails, family activities and other events.

BLC noted that the programme reflects continuing aim to bring together Luxembourg’s expatriate and international community while combining its long-standing social and charitable activities with opportunities for women, entrepreneurship, professional connections and community participation.
