On Tuesday 15 September 2026, Luxembourg’s Roads and Bridges Administration announced that as part of the continuous improvement of road infrastructure, it will renew the road surface on the A4 motorway on the section between Cessange Cross and the Merl roundabout from Friday 18 until Monday 21 September.
According to the administration, the works will take place from approximately 20:00 on Friday 18 September until around 05:00 on Monday 21 September to minimise traffic disruption during the week as much as possible.
Diversions will be put in place and signposted.
The following road closures will be implemented:
• the A4 motorway towards Luxembourg between Cessange Cross and the Merl roundabout;
• the A6 slip road towards Belgium onto the A4 towards Luxembourg;
• the A6 slip road towards Gasperich Cross onto the A4 towards Luxembourg.
Road users travelling from the A6 motorway towards Gasperich Cross, respectively from the A4 motorway, and towards Luxembourg will be diverted from Cessange Cross via the A6, Gasperich Cross, A3, Hesperange interchange, CR231, N4 and N56A.
Road users travelling from the A6 motorway towards Belgium and onto the A4 motorway towards Luxembourg will be diverted from Cessange Cross via the A6, Helfenterbruck interchange, N5, CR230 and N56A.
The preparatory works required to change the motorway operating arrangements will be carried out several hours before the start of the roadworks.
Traffic disruptions are therefore expected from late morning onwards.
