On Saturday 22 August 2026, LUkraine Asbl organised an Independence Day Auto Rally and community gathering in Luxembourg city.
The afternoon event celebrated the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence and started by those participating meeting at the Parking Adenauer in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
With those attending including over a hundred Luxembourg residents from the Ukrainian community, friends of Ukraine, partners and neighbours, the column of around 30 cars carrying Ukraine and Luxembourg flags moved through the streets of Luxembourg, making Ukraine visible on the day.
Nicolas Zharov, President of LUkraine Asbl, spoke with Chronicle.lu and stated: "We celebrate the 35th anniversary of the reestablishment of Ukrainian independence. So we have a traditional yearly car rally happening with thirty-ish vehicles that are going to participate and some motorcycles. So we are here, not in a bad mood; well, it's hard to say it's celebration, but still, what we celebrate is the resistance of Ukrainian spirit. The resistance of Ukrainian armed forces against the threats that we are facing with daily missile attacks on Ukraine. So, we try to remain as a community, the Ukrainian community as supportive as we can and to demonstrate that we are still standing strong".
