Luxembourg’s Roads and Bridges Administration announced on Friday 19 June 2026, that as part of the widening of the A3 motorway, it will install a second series of overhead gantries, carry out specific works related to the redevelopment of the Livange interchange and the optimisation of the A3-to-A1 slip roads, as well as various maintenance works. 

To facilitate these operations, the section of motorway between the Gasperich Interchange and the Bettembourg Interchange will be closed from 20:00 on Friday 26 June until approximately 04:00 on Monday 29 June 2026.

The administration said these works will be carried out over the weekend in order to avoid disrupting weekday traffic during working days.

Road Closures and Diversions

From 20:00 on Friday 26 June until approximately 04:00 on Monday 29 June 2026:

⁃ the A3 motorway towards Luxembourg between the Bettembourg Interchange and the Gasperich Interchange.

⁃ the slip roads at the Bettembourg Interchange from the A13 motorway to the A3 motorway towards Luxembourg.

⁃ the entry slip road at the Livange interchange from the N31 towards the A3 motorway in the direction of Luxembourg.

From 21:30 on Friday 26 June until approximately 04:00 on Monday 29 June 2026:

⁃ the A3 motorway towards Metz between Gluck Roundabout and the Bettembourg Interchange.

⁃ the slip roads at the Gasperich Interchange from the A1 and A6 motorways respectively onto the A3 motorway towards Metz.

⁃ the entry slip road at the Hesperange interchange from the CR231 towards the A3 motorway towards Metz.

⁃ the entry slip road at the Livange interchange from the N31 towards the A3 motorway towards Metz.

Road users travelling from the A3 or the A13 and wishing to join the A3 towards Luxembourg will be diverted via the A13 towards Esch-sur-Alzette, the Esch junction, the A4 towards Luxembourg, the Cessange Interchange and the A6 towards the Gasperich Interchange.

Road users travelling from the A1 or the A6 and wishing to join the A3 towards Metz will be diverted via the A6 towards Belgium, the Cessange Interchange, the A4 towards Esch-sur-Alzette, the Esch junction, the A13 towards Schengen and the Bettembourg Interchange.

Road users travelling from the N31 and wishing to join the A3 towards Luxembourg will be diverted via the N31, CR159, CR132, N13, the Burange interchange, the A13 towards Esch-sur-Alzette, the Esch junction, the A4 towards Luxembourg, the Cessange Interchange and the A6 towards the Gasperich Interchange.

Road users travelling from the N31 and wishing to join the A3 towards Luxembourg will alternatively be diverted via the N31, CR186, N4, the Leudelange-Nord interchange, the A4 towards Luxembourg, the Cessange Interchange and the A6 towards the Gasperich Interchange.

Road users travelling from the N31 and wishing to join the A3 towards Metz will be diverted via the N31, CR159, CR132, N13, the Burange interchange, the A13 towards Schengen and the Bettembourg Interchange.

Road users travelling from Gluck Roundabout or the CR231 and heading towards the motorway network will be diverted via the N4A, the N4 and the Leudelange-Nord interchange.

Access to the service stations at the Berchem Service Area will be closed from Friday 26 June 2026 at 18:30 until approximately 04:00 on Monday 29 June 2026.

As preparatory work required for the motorway closure will be carried out several hours beforehand, traffic disruption is expected from late afternoon onwards.
