The City of Luxembourg has announced that tap water in certain areas of the capital is currently unsafe to drink.

Following a technical problem with a reservoir supply valve at the SEBES water treatment plant, tap water in and around the Cloche d'Or district has been contaminated.

Residents of the following streets are urged not to drink the water until further notice:

- Rue Emile Bian
- Rue Robert Stumper
- Rue Henri M. Schnadt
- Boulevard de Kockelscheuer
- Rue Jean Piret
- Rue Leonardo Da Vinci
- Rue Gerhard Mercator
- Rue Albert Einstein
- Rue Charles Darwin
- Rue Lise Meitner
- Boulevard F.W. Raiffeisen
- Rue Isaac Newton
- Rue Rosalind Franklin

The City of Luxembourg has advised residents to boil the water for ten minutes before any direct consumption and urged them not to wash salads, fruit or vegetables to be eaten raw in tap water. The tap water is still safe for other uses, such as in showers.

The Water Department of the City of Luxembourg, SEBES and the state authorities are currently working together to find a solution to this problem. Residents will be informed as soon as the water can be consumed again.
