The project “Milk Week” is taking place this week between 15 and 21 December 2016.

Following the success of last year’s “Milk Week” project, launched by the Service d’Economie Rurale along with the Letzebuerger Landjugend & Jongbaueren, Service Jeunesse-Letzebuerger Bauerjugend and the Association for the promotion of educational farms in Luxembourg (APFAPL), it was decided to hold another one this year.

Throughout this week, around 60 milk farms opened their doors to primary school pupils who had the chance to discover about the process of milk production in Luxembourg. These school visits form part of attempts to inform and raise awareness among pupils regarding the food production, and especially milk production.

Since it is becoming more and more rare for producers and consumers to interact, children do not always know where their food is coming from. As such, it is important to educate them on this matter.

“Milk Week” aims to strengthen the links between consumers and milk producers as well as to provide insight into the daily work of milk producers in the Grand Duchy.
