On Monday 31 July 2023, Luxembourg's Ministry of Justice confirmed the national procedure for the selection of candidates applying for the post of judge at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg (ECHR).

On 1 May 2024 the mandate of the current Luxembourg judge at the European Court of Human Rights, Georges Ravarani, is set to expire and Luxembourg is obliged to submit a list of three candidates to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

After a public call for applications and a selection procedure for candidates based on the resolutions of the Parliamentary Assembly and the guidelines of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Luxembourg's Minister of Justice, Sam Tanson, has finalised the list of three candidates, as submitted by the Selection Committee.

The National Selection Committee under the chairmanship of President of the Superior Court of Justice, Roger Linden, was composed as follows: Christian Biltgen, President of the Diekirch Bar Association; Francis Delaporte, President of the Administrative Court; Patrick Engelberg, Ambassador, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Fernand Etgen, President of the Chamber of Deputies; Christine Goy, Secretary General at the Ministry of Justice; Katalin Ligeti, professor at the University of Luxembourg; Roger Linden, President of the Superior Court of Justice; Claudia Monti, mediator; Gilbert Pregno, President of the Consultative Commission on Human Rights; Pit Reckinger, President of the Luxembourg Bar Association; Martine Solovieff, State Attorney General.

The three proposed candidates are in alphabetical order:
