On Wednesday 25 August 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy together with the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social and Solidarity Economy announced that 800 requests for reduced working assistance were approved as a result of the fall-out from the floods in mid-July.

The Conjuncture Committee met on Tuesday 24 August 2021 under the chairmanship of the Minister of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Dan Kersch.

Requests for partial unemployment "force majeure floods"

During its meeting, the Conjuncture Committee favourably advised on 66 requests which had been filed between 1 - 20 August 2021 and covered the months of August and September 2021.

For the month of October 2021, if one or the other company should still be in a state of disaster, it can submit a request for partial unemployment through the classic partial unemployment platform on Guichet.lu, within the legal period. extending from the 1st to the 12th of the month preceding the occurrence of the event. The partial unemployment application for "force majeure floods" will no longer be available. 

Information on requests for partial unemployment for the month of September 2021
 
The Conjuncture Committee ruled favourably on 734 requests for partial unemployment for the month of September 2021. These requests concern a total of 12,518 employees (calculated as full-time jobs).

The Conjuncture Committee also favourably advised a sectoral job retention plan, 5 individual job retention plans, as well as 2 recovery plans. The total number is therefore 8 such plans.

Finally, the Conjuncture Committee issued a positive opinion on 2 requests relating to the legal provisions on early retirement.
