Giovanni Taurino, ZenonCar;
On Thursday evening, the Luxembourgish start-up ZenonCar launched at Nyuko in Luxembourg-Hollerich within the context of the Sharing Economy.
Co-founders Julien Danet and Giovanni Taurino presented the concept - a local car-sharing mobile app, plus website, that helps people to get back home safely, whether a passenger or a driver, as a mutual favour.
This local and instantaneous car-sharing mobile app helps people match mutual needs: a person having a car but unable to drive and another person being a driver currently on foot.
Whether having missed the last bus or having drunk too much, one will find the app very useful, so much cheaper than a taxi. With cheap fees and great utility, based on the principles of the new sharing economy, this app has a strong social footprint.
The project has been in development for a while, thanks in part to the prize offered by Nyuko to the start-up in May 2016 as a result of their participation in the Irish Chamber of Commerce's Innovation Competition and Pitching Contest in May 2016. Since then, the website and app have been developed; now they are in the process of both marketing the service and also looking for investors to enable them to grow the business.
It can be described as a new car-pooling solution, one that is spontaneous and uses geo-localisation; it also aims to reduce the number of cars on the streets and also improve road safety.
One of the issues being addressed by the company concerns the eligibility of the driver, i.e. that they have a valid driving licence, are sober and are insured to drive that particular car - regarding the latter, in some countries insurance policies cover the car, and in others they cover the driver.
Also panrticipating in the launch was Jean-Pierre Le Verge, Marketing Director at ZenonCar.
