On Friday 17 January 2025, the LCGB and OGBL trade unions announced that negotiations with Luxair management over a new collective agreement have broken down and that they (the trade unions) have referred to file to the National Conciliation Office (ONC)

According to the unions, the referral follows the failure of negotiations in the context of the renewal of the collective labour agreement.

Their statement read "despite an excellent post-crisis recovery by Luxair, which in 2023 reached a historic milestone by transporting more than 2.5 million passengers and which will certainly be surpassed again in 2024, management maintains its position and stubbornly refuses to come sufficiently close to the unions' demands concerning salary improvements and working conditions for all staff".

The unions are arguing that these "exceptional" performances of the company are the result of sustained efforts of all Luxair staff, who they state have demonstrated flexibility and commitment in a context of post-COVID-19 recovery.

They added that, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the post-COVID-19 recovery, "the staff have made considerable efforts and concessions allowing Luxair to overcome the various challenges. In order to also ensure future challenges within the framework of the company's new strategy, the time has come to seriously invest in employees. Recognition of the work carried out is therefore essential at the level of the collective labour agreement".
