Earlier today, the artisanal firm Maison du Plâtre (Plaster House) was declared bankrupt after months of uncertainty about the future of the company and of the employees.
Since the beginning of the year, dozens of people have been laid off and considerable delays in payment of wages have occurred since June 2015. The LCGB trade union has stated that this untenable situation led them in late November 2015 to organise a protest picket outside the headquarters of the company in order to find as soon as possible a solution in the interest of employees. Unfortunately the company and the jobs of some 40 employees working there could not be saved.
The LCGB has stated that it is currently using relevant personnel within its trade union confederation to assist the company's staff in establishing their tax debts. After months without wages, it is to ensure that employees can reach as quickly as possible late payments and bankruptcy-related benefits. At the same time, the LCGB is assisting the employees in their efforts to search for a new job.
