Luxembourg Space Cluster has announced positive results following its attendance at the Paris Air Show, held at Le Bourget Airport from 15-21 June 2015, where the network met with suppliers, customers and potential new partners.

The Luxembourg Space Cluster, which brings together research organisations and specialised companies to develop technology in the space sector, attended the Air Show, where 2,300 exhibitors and 150,000 trade visitors came from all around the world to gain a foothold in the sphere of international space development.

The participation of the Luxembourg Space Cluster at the Air Show marked the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Grand Duchy's entrance into the European Space Agency (ESA), and represented a strengthening of the European network in this sector with the signing of a partnership agreement with the aerospace cluster of Wallonia, Skywin. The agreement was signed on 16 June 2015, with the coalition with Skywin cluster, which represents over 130 companies, universities and research centres, said to reaffirm the importance of international co-operation in the field of space technology.

"We came to represent the members of Cluster and promote their products, services and expertise to help them integrate further into international networks," explained Dr. Patricia Conti, Head of Cluster at Luxinnovation.

The Cluster's stand, organised by the Luxembourgish Ministry of Economy, reportedly received a great influx of visitors at the show interested in gaining more information on this sector within the Grand Duchy.

The Cluster was accompanied by several of its member associations, namely GRADEL; HITEC Luxembourg; the Luxembourg Institute of Scient and Technology (LIST); Saturne Technology and SES.

"We were able to advise our members who were there with us, whilst at the same time representing those who were not present," continued Dr. Conti. "We have reissued our catalogue according to the skills of our members. This new edition, which has been very successful, offers information on the activities of each of our members and has been well-received by actors wishing to establish relations with Luxembourg."

One example of the activities demonstrated was Saturne Technology's 3D printer, which currently represents the largest of its kind in the world.

Luxembourg's space sector continues to receive support from the government, with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Etienne Schneider and  Director General of ESA, Jean-Jacques Dordain, each giving speeches at the ceremony on 17 June 2015 marking the 10th anniversary of the accession of Luxembourg to the ESA.
