At a press conference earlier today, the LCGB trade union presented its new brochure which contains, in summary, the specific claims concerning flexibility of working hours of employees as part of an extension of hours of opening in the retail sector and the various exceptions to the existing legal framework.
The LCGB has asked the Government not to sacrifice working conditions and employees' privacy for competitiveness and commercial interests displayed by some retailers and has called for rapid implementation of the government study on conditions of work. No new adaptation of opening hours can take place before the government, the employers' representatives and trade unions have drawn all the necessary conclusions for the continuation of the reflective process.
The LCGB has argued that any discussion of the working time of employees in the retail sector must be accompanied by measures to ensure a good balance between work and family life. Without common conclusions, the LCGB firmly stated that it will oppose any modification to working conditions to the detriment of employees, including at the legislative level in the form of waivers.
This new brochure gives details of the position of the LCGB and all its claims; it will be distributed in the coming weeks to its members and employees concerned.
