G-Core Labs, an international provider of cloud and edge solutions headquartered in Luxembourg, has launched a new region of its public cloud in Ashburn, Virginia (USA).
Clients can use a multifunctional virtual data centre that allows them to scale their IT infrastructure in minutes, as well as significantly accelerate the development, testing and introduction of new products and services to the market. All data processing is performed in the United States.
North America has become the company's third cloud region. Previously G-Core Labs public clouds were launched in Luxembourg and Moscow. In total, the company plans to open about 10 additional public cloud points of presence on all continents of the world in the near future.
"We are now focused on scalability and providing multiple locations with minimal latency. Our goal is to become a single virtual data centre for our clients, accessible from anywhere in the world. At the same time, the launch of cloud point in Ashburn is especially important for the development of G-Core Labs public cloud infrastructure, because the USA is world leader in opening new areas of applications of cloud solutions and in scale of their implementation" said Vsevolod Vayner, head of cloud platforms at G-Core Labs.
Traditionally, the main clients of cloud services are mass media, online retail, game developers and publishers, banks, insurance companies, educational and medical organisations. However, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for cloud-based solutions for remote work has increased. Meeting this requirement, G-Core Labs provides virtual machines with Windows and Linux operating systems that act as a remote workstation for the developer or ordinary user.
As part of the IaaS model, the G-Core Labs solution provides the functionality of virtual machines, not limited in capacity, with the options of fast & seamless automatic scaling, their load balancer, system backup and data disaster recovery. G-Core Labs allows its clients to create virtual cloud networks where they can set up private clusters to do necessary computations or to isolate a certain set of applications within their own cloud network.
Another useful feature of G-Core Labs IaaS service is an option to manage resources by distributing them among projects (cost centers). This makes the use of resources by projects or departments transparent for the clients. It means that the users can see not just the lump number of resources used within a certain period of time for all projects, but detailed info about how much was spent on each project.
Within platform services, or PaaS, G-Core Labs plans to add an option of auto-deploying Kubernetes clusters for container orchestration soon, to finish the integration of a platform for developing, testing and launching AI applications and Hadoop-based systems for working with big data.
