On Thursday 9 April 2026, Amnéville Zoo, located across the border in France’s Grand Est region, announced that several new animals have arrived since the beginning of the year.
According to the zoo, dozens of animals have joined the park in recent months, enriching existing groups and diversifying the species presented to visitors. The arrivals come as the zoo marks its 40th anniversary in 2026.
Among the notable arrivals, a female siamang has joined the resident male, forming a new pair. A young male Mhorr gazelle, an endangered species, has also arrived from Madrid Zoo.
The zoo has further welcomed a pair of seriemas, which will soon be visible in the Amazon Jungle aviary, as well as a young male California sea lion. A female elephant from Basel Zoo has also joined the existing female, Inga.
Among smaller mammals, smooth-coated otters and European otters have been introduced. New dik-diks will also be visible in the African plains area, while a young albino wallaby is set to join the existing group.
In terms of birds, the park has welcomed a purple starling and two kites. Young guinea fowl are also expected to join the African plains area in the near future.
Additional arrivals are planned, with a male jaguar and a binturong expected at the zoo in the coming months.
