On Tuesday evening in Minsk, Luxembourg's national football team fell to a 2-0 defeat to Belarus to leave the Red Lions in 5th position out of 6 in their group table in the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Luxembourg conceded two goals, one in each half, by striker Mikhail Gordeichuk who was playing on his home ground. The home side started briskly, possibly trying to take advantage of any lingering effects of food poisoning the Luxembourg team contracted on Sunday evening. As a result, the Luxembourg goalkeeper, Jonathan Joubert, was forced into action early on to defend the visitirs' goal.

The first goal came on 34 minutes, with Gordeichuk scoring inside the near post following a period of broken play. In the second half, Gordeichuk latched onto a pass from substitute Sergei Kislyak and slotted the ball past Joubert to make it 2-0.

Luxembourg are now 5th out of 6 teams with 4 points from 8 games. spain leads the group.
