On Saturday evening at the Stade Josy Barthel on Luxembourg city's Route d'Arlon, Luxembourg's national football team shocked the visiting Macedonia team and their supporters by emerging with a 1-0 win in their Euro 2016 qualifying match.

Despite having the majority of possession and territory, Macedonia could not find the Luxembourg net, even missing a penalty saved by home hero Jonathan Joubert with 6 minutes to play. As the match was heading for a draw, Luxembourg's substitute Sébastian Thill, on the pitch just 18 minutes, scored in the second minute of added time with a left-footed looping volley that the visiting keeper could not reach.

The win lifts Luxembourg above Macedonia in the table, with 4 points from 7 games, level with Belarus but with an inferior goal difference. Spain and Slovakia lead the group, both on 18 points.
