The Luxembourg-based project "EcoBox- Mei laang genéissen" has won first prize of the international "Doggy Bag" competition during the Refresh Final Conference in Barcelona.

Currently, there are 25,000 EcoBox reusable containers available in 79 restaurants across Luxembourg and the project already extends to canteens and communes. Other distribution channels are being analysed in order to extend the success of the project to other areas of daily life in Luxembourg.

Refresh is a research project of the European Union that fights against food waste. Together, 26 partners from twelve European countries and the People's Republic of China are working towards Sustainable Development Goal 12.3, which consists of halving food waste per capita at retail and consumer levels, reducing food losses along production and supply chains, reducing the costs of waste management and maximising the value of unavoidable food waste and packaging.
