Prime Minister and State Minister Xavier Bettel and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Étienne Schneider will visit Astana, capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, this weekend, for the official opening of the international exhibition EXPO-2017 which will take place from 10 June to 10 September 2017.
They will be accompanied by a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce of some thirty representatives of Luxembourg companies.
Over three months, it is anticipated that nearly five million visitors will explore the pavilions of the 115 participating countries built around the theme of "Energy for the Future: Action for Global Sustainability”
Luxembourg’s participation is part of the Government's commitment to promoting sustainable development and innovation and research in the field of environmental technologies.
Developed by the Ministry of Economy, in close collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, myenergy and the private sector, the Luxembourg pavilion with a surface area of 250 m2 presents the Grand Duchy as a forerunner in the implementation of a new national economic model based on the convergence of information and communication technologies, energy and transport within a smart grid.
The stand demonstrates the current state and evolution of the country into a "smart" nation based on the measures identified during the "Third Industrial Revolution - Lëtzebuerg" process. Visitors are also invited to discover the flagship and visionary project of Luxembourg, namely the SpaceResources.lu initiative.
The Luxembourg pavilion is mainly financed by the private sector, in particular by the ERG group, or by SES, Arendt & Medernach, Jan de Nul and RCB.
On the sidelines of EXPO-2017, Xavier Bettel and Étienne Schneider will hold bilateral interviews with members of the Kazakh government.
