Actors Repertory Theatre Luxembourg and the Mierscher Kulturhaus are putting on a production of Do You Want to Know a Secret? by Daniel Pinkerton from Wednesday 9 to Saturday 12 March 2016 at 20:00 and Sunday 13 March at 17:00.

Berlin, the waning years of the Cold War. The Berger family is unwittingly caught in the politics, fear and paranoia of a society in which everyone just may be spying on everyone else. Who can be trusted in an environment of seemingly universal betrayal?

Politics, family, love, betrayal, fear and paranoia collide in Daniel Pinkerton’s award-winning play, Do You Want to Know a Secret? A quarter of a century after the Wall came down, this taut and moving drama about one family’s struggles with betrayal resonates profoundly with our own time—the era of Edward Snowden and identity theft.

Do You Want to Know a Secret? won Pinkerton the prestigious Jerome Playwriting Fellowship. Pinkerton is also the recipient of Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Minnesota State Arts Board.

Do You Want to Know a Secret? tells a gripping story about an era that changed the course of European and world history. The play explores the impact on one family of events that shattered one world order and built another—events that many in our audience will be too young to remember.

Actors Rep’s production of Do You Want to Know a Secret? presents a remarkable opportunity for audience members to experience a time that built contemporary Europe and the modern world. Through the story of one family, and whether the era of the Fall of the Wall is a memory or something they’ve only read about, audiences can experience a powerful drama rooted in a time that still resonates deeply across our own.
The cast is highlighted by London based Luxembourgish actress Sarah Lamesch as well as Luxembourg based actors Timothy Lone, Rhona Richards, Christine Probst and Gilbert K. Johnston.

The action takes place in Berlin between 1988 and 1993 with filmed flashback segments.

Playwright Daniel Pinkerton writes that, although the play is a work of fiction, ‘the larger historical events mentioned did take place and the historical figures are, unfortunately, real.’
