Casino2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains has changed the menu at the buffet-style Magège restaurant after the success of the format over the past number of years.

On Tuesday evening, Stephane Krakowska, F&B Manager at Casino2000, presented the new menu which now includes warm dishes as well as the traditional cold dishes, with the cuisine now reflecting regional dishes from across five continents. 

With a number of traditional salad dishes, Jamie Oliver's Farfalle Salad is now included, as is a French & German Potato Salad, and a Moroccan Carrot Salad. Greek Mushrooms, Meat Loaf (Luxembourg, Germany) and Spanish Tortillas, Russian Sardines and more can be found on the extensive buffet spread which includes starters, main dishes and desserts - with a chocolate fountain as centre-piece. But at the official launch on Tuesday it was the Turkish Meatballs and the Roast Pork warm dishes that were the pick of the best (the warm dishes selection also includes Onion Quiche), followed by the chocolate fountain with fresh fruit.

The Manège restaurant is to be found at the back of the roulette and blackjack tables, a quick walk-through from the slot machines; it seats 80-100 at any one time, with staff replacing near-empty dishes frequently. Although it has its own kitchen separate from the Chapito, Les Roses and the Purple Lounge kitchens, most of the cooking and preparation is carried out in the Chapito's kitchen, due to the buffet volume requirements.

At a fixed price of €21.50 (wine and water included), this amounts to great value. Whether going to the Casino2000 just for the Manège restaurant, or eating there as a break from the tables, it is cosy, quiet and comfortable. One can get up and help oneself from the buffet whenever one wants, and this includes the wine and desserts too.
