The Agence Melchior has announced that, following five years of an ambitious restoration project respecting its wonderful heritage, the Villa Baldauff will reopen as a hotel under the name La Villa Pétrusse on 1 April 2025.
The architectural gem and emblematic building in the heart of the city of Luxembourg - overlooking the Pétrusse valley at 1 Avenue Marie-Thérèse, close to the Pont Adolphe - has been a secret place forgotten for years; shortly it will experience a rebirth in the form of a hotel with 22-room, two suites and a penthouse, designed by interior designer Tristan Auer.
The decor is inspired by the spirit of the place with the faithful restoration of certain historical elements, such as the precious hand-painted wallpaper, reproductions of the works of Sosthène Weis, with furniture elements custom-designed for La Villa Pétrusse.
The hotel will also have a gourmet restaurant "Le Lys" headed by Chef Kim De Dood who had led the Schengen Lounge restaurant at the Luxembourg pavilion at the 2020 World Expo in Dubai.
Villa Baldauff
At the end of the 19th century, a visionary trio brought Luxembourg into the present by reshaping the face of the capital of the Grand Duchy and building splendid villas surrounded by gardens, including the Villa Baldauff: Edouard André, an avant-garde landscape planner, Pierre Kemp, an architect, and Sosthène Weis, a painter inspired by Luxembourg landscapes.
La Villa Pétrusse
In 2024, La Villa Pétrusse is part of this rich history to restore the nobility of this legendary place. Architectural detail, hand-painted wallpaper, monumental fireplaces, frescoes and stained glass windows... The identical restoration by local craftsmen goes hand in hand with the integration of all the essentials of modernity in terms of sustainability, responsibility and safety. A way of drawing a link that is both respectful and bold between past and future.--
Interior Design
In the rooms and suites, at the bar or in the dining room of the gourmet restaurant, despite its sometimes grandiose volumes, La Villa Pétrusse has retained the atmosphere of a luxurious private residence from yesteryear, which gives the sensation of feeling at home, welcomed with all the marks of a warm and attentive relationship.
Le Lys Restaurant
Chef Kim de Dood is originally from Luxembourg, who is now returning to the country of his childhood. After various experiences in Asia where he notably obtained 2 stars at the Saint-Pierre in Singapore, he has here created traditional Luxembourgish cuisine with Asian influences, but above all an experience that he hopes will be global and unforgettable. Villa Pétrusse aims to become an essential culinary destination in Luxembourg.
