On Monday 9 November 2015, Cercle Cité in Place d'Armes hosted the 'Prélude' evening of the second edition of Émergences, showcasing the young choreographers of Luxembourg's contemporary dance scene.

Together, Jennifer Gohier and Grégory Beaumont examine the dual concept of solitude as it is either selected or it is suffered. In 'SOLI-TUDE', the two choreographers offer their reflections on the paradoxes of feelings driven by isolation, and the metamorphosis of the word from an uninhabited place, to a person living withdrawn from the world, to the sentiment of being 'isolated'.

Jennifer Gohier was trained at the Conservatoire d'Angers and then at the École du CCN-Ballet du Nord before joining the Ballet de l'Opéra-Théâtre in Metz in 2005. Choreographer, dancer and teach Grégory Beaumont himself trained at the Lyon Conservatoire National Supérieur de musique et danse and joined the CCN-Ballet Lorraine where he expanded his repertoire to incorporate pieces from multiple choreographers. Both Gohier and Beaumont work for various companies, including Christophe Garcia's La [Parenthèse], the Filament de Julien Ficely and the TROIS CL.

'fest' by Piera Jovic and Georges Maikel Pires Monteiro asks the question 'What would life be if it had to be eternally and behind closed doors?' by trapping two individuals in a space from which they can never escape. Prisoners inside these walls, life becomes one continual confrontation of fluctuating emotions. Personal development is unlikely, a moment for oneself out of the question as the duo spin together into insanity.

Of Italian origin, Piera Jovic was trained at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg and moved to Spain to continue training with the CobosMika Dance Company after obtaining her high diploma in Jazz dance in 2010. Jovic now works as an independent choreographer in Luxembourg and the wider region and has been creating her own pieces since August 2014.

Georges Maikel Pires Monteiro also began his training at Luxembourg's Conservatoire, where he obtained his own degree in Jazz dance two years after Jovic. He joined the CobosMika Dance Company in 2013 in 'Choice' and 'Wish' and the PrÄk company in 'Nipples Theory'.It was with Piera Jovic that he first debuted as a choreographer in 2014.

In 'secrets', Giovanni Zazzera conveys the pleasant and punishing potential of these contained truths, which, whilst constantly concealed, aspire to break out into the world in order to exist. In this way, Giovanni looks at the relationship between an individual and their secrets, revealing how we try to live with them, contain them, share them and control them.

Another graduate of the Conservatoire de la Ville du Luxembourg, Giovanni Zazzera decided to continue his training in Brazil and has worked for various modern, classical and contemporary dance companies. He has been involved in several courses and residencies in centres and institutes around the world and is constantly performing, receiving the 'Lëtzebuerger Danzpräis' in 2013. He has been creating his own pieces as a choreographer for the last three years, presenting them at festivals and other performing arts events.

The choreography in Hannah Ma's 'dieu/monstre' feeds an artistic reflection on the parallelism between Asian musical rites and those of the Alpine region. The meeting of the two gives rise to artistic expressions of beliefs exhibited through the universal language of dances and its capacity for exoticism, sensuality and poetry.

A dancer-choreographer of German-Chinese origin, Hannah Ma has been working as an independent artist since 21013. She founded her own companies, hannah ma dance and HAN SÙN Gathering and in 2014 created the 'InterTanzional' festival in Trier and the Greater Region. She received training at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien and the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart before participating in various theatre productions in Vienna, Stuttgart, Freiburg, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Hannover and Luxembourg. She has received several awards, including the Gold Medal of the ÖTR-CONTEST, National Dance and Ballet Competition, and the 'Theater Maske' of the Richard Wagner Verband.

The full performances of Émergences will be showcased by the TROIS CL at the Banannefabrik, 12 rue du Puits, L-2355, Luxembourg-Bonnevoie.
