Rotondes in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie has announced that the upcoming Open Floor dance sessions organised by KnowEdge will take place on Wednesday 24 and Monday 29 June 2026.
Despite ongoing renovation works, Rotondes will host three Open Floor dance sessions, offering participants aged 16 and over the opportunity to explore different freestyle dance styles in a welcoming environment.
On Wednesday 24 June 2026, “House Dance” will take place from 19:30 to 22:00 in Studio 4. The session is dedicated to house dance, an improvised social dance style that developed in the clubs of Chicago and New York during the 1970s and 1980s. It combines influences from salsa, capoeira, tap dance and breaking and focuses on fast footwork, rhythmic movement and floor work.
On Monday 29 June 2026, “Breaking” will take place from 18:00. The session focuses on breaking freestyle and welcomes dancers of all levels to practise, exchange ideas and develop their skills. Breaking emerged in the early 1970s as one of the four pillars of hip-hop culture, alongside DJing, MCing and graffiti.
Later the same evening, at 20:00, “Funk and Disco” will invite participants to dance to funk and disco music that inspired styles such as waacking, popping, locking and breaking. The session offers a free practice space where beginners and experienced dancers can meet, train and share their passion, sometimes accompanied by a DJ.
All sessions are organised by KnowEdge asbl in collaboration with Rotondes.
First-time participants can attend free of charge. Organisers advised participants to check KnowEdge's Instagram Stories before attending for any schedule changes or event updates.
