Located at the Centre Culturel Opderschmelz which opened in December 2007, and which is also home to the Centre national de l'audiovisuel (CNA), the Starligh cinema has two screens, with 144 seat and 50 seat capactities.
The €800,000 budget for the renovations covered upgrades to the sound and visual experience of cinema-goers.
A reception for invited guests was held in the foyer of the complex before the formal part of the evening was held in the Ciné Starlight 1 screening room.
Carlo Blum, Acting Director of the CNA, addressed the invited guests and recalled the extensive renovations of the Ciné Starlight cinema, including Dolby Atmos sound and 4K laser projection; new sound insulation; all with the highest energy efficiency in mind, also designed for conferences to be held there.
Luxembourg’s Minister of Culture, Eric Thill, and Yves Steichen, Film Historian at the CNA, both addressed the invited audience, and recalled the history of the cinema as well as looked forward to some upcoming titles to be screened there, including introducing the short film Martin Brun and the Avant-Premier of the new feature film Primetime which were then screened.
