Luxembourg's Ministry of Culture and the National Sites and Monuments Service have launched a call for projects from institutions, associations and organisations with a cultural vocation as well as municipalities and individuals to participate in the European Heritage Days 2020, which will take place from 25 September to 4 October.
The European Heritage Days take place annually at the end of September throughout Europe with the particular objective of arousing interest in the cultural heritage and publicising the cultural richness and diversity of Europe. This year, the Days are placed under the common theme "Heritage and education - learning for life!", thus celebrating the role of education in cultural heritage and vice versa.
The activities which will take place within the framework of the European Heritage Days 2020 will aim to raise awareness of cultural heritage and the values it promotes. They will primarily target young people and will highlight the importance of safeguarding and conserving this limited resource. Various actions could thus be envisaged, such as discoveries and guided tours of buildings or historic sites, as well as museum collections, workshops, the development of educational kits, conferences, demonstrations or initiations to heritage professions, projects relating to new technologies, concerts or any other heritage-related event.
Any public or private stakeholder can apply to participate in the European Heritage Days 2020 by submitting their project by 15 May 2020 on the website: www.journeesdupatrimoine.lu or via email: journeespatrimoine@ssmn.public.lu.
The selected projects will benefit from increased visibility and promotion through publication in a printed programme and on the website. Communication materials and the logo will also be made available. Under certain conditions, financial support may be awarded.
Further information, including the full call for projects, is available on www.journeesdupatrimoine.lu.
