Luxembourg's Ministry of the Civil Service has announced an agreed pay rise for the public sector.
At a press conference on Wednesday 29 January 2025, Luxembourg's Minister for the Civil Service, Serge Wilmes, and the President of the CGFP union, Romain Wolff, presented the new salary agreement for the public sector. The negotiating partners agreed on a point value increase of 2%, effective from 1 January 2025, followed by a further point value increase of 0.5% from 1 January 2026.
"It was a constructive social dialogue," stressed Minister Wilmes, "which led to a good and reasonable agreement for our employees."
The total cost of this salary increase for the state amounts to €195.5 million.
The partners also agreed that state employees will be awarded the point value of a civil servant after twelve years of service.
With the new salary agreement, teachers' overtime will now also be paid at the usual rate for teaching hours.
"Our employees, teachers, police officers, rescue workers and employees of public authorities provide essential services to our society. We need a strong and efficient public service," said Minister Wilmes.
The new salary agreement lasts two years.
