Handicap International has announced that its exhibition on the remnants of war will take place between 10 January and 26 February 2017 at Place du Brill, Esch-sur-Alzette.
The exhibition “Remnants of Wars” will be open from 10 January in Esch-sur-Alzette. It has been organised by Handicap International in collaboration with the Musée national de la Résistance as part of the international symposium “Questions on the future of remembrance work”.
The war exhibition sheds light not only on the situation in Luxembourg, where there is still around five tonnes of unexploded Second World War ammunition being found today, but also on the remnants of war following recent and current conflicts such as those in Syria and Iraq.
“Remnants of war” is an exhibition which recalls the consequences of the two world wars on civilian victims in Luxembourg whilst presenting a parallel with those victims of current conflicts.
The exhibition, which is in English, French, Luxembourgish and German, combines archived photographs from the Grand Duchy as well as photographs taken on the field by Handicap International.
The public opening of the exhibition, with a guided tour, will take place on Tuesday 10 January at 14:00 at the Place de la Résistance in Esch. Present at the opening will be students from Esch’s technical college as well as partners of the exhibition.
