
In 2015, the National Cultural Fund allocated €523,848.12 to cultural projects in Luxembourg, representing a 2.04% increase compared to the previous year.
The steering committee of the National Cultural Fund met 13 times in 2015 to consider 340 applications submitted by professional artists or organisations working in the cultural field. In total, 245 projects were financially supported, a 5.04% decrease from 2014's 258. The acceptance rate was found to have stood at 72.06%.
As well as private donations, the financial resources of the National Cultural Fund are mainly provided through the Œuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte, the financial means of which are generated by the National Lottery.
The 2015 aid granted to different areas of culture were as follows:
- Theatre: €149,350 / 28.51%
- Music: €136,088 / 25.98%
- Literature, editions: €125,724.12 / 24.00%
- Visual Arts: €57,541 / 10.98%
- Dance: €21,018 / 4.02%
- Multidisciplinary Arts: €19,907 / 3.80%
- Street Arts & Circus: €5,000 / 0.95%
- Art & Experimental Cinema: €4,450 / 0.87%
- Heritage: €3,000 / 0.57%
- Design and Art Craft: €1,680 / 0.32%
The National Cultural Fund cited the presence of Luxembourg artists and cultural actors abroad as one of the steering committee's priorities in the allocation of grants and subsidies. 57 'mobility aids' were granted, or 23.27% of all cases. Thr diffusions of shows abroad will reportedly remain a priority and an analysis of aid and subsidies for artistic disciplines is underway to further export Luxembourg talents abroad.
