On Tuesday 24 March 2026, Luxembourg’s Ministry of Health and Social Security together with the Ministry of Sports, held the first edition of "Healthcareers Day", welcoming more than 1,000 visitors at Forum Geesseknäppchen in Luxembourg-Hollerich.
The event, dedicated to discovering health and care professions in Luxembourg, was organised as part of the national healthcareers.lu campaign, launched in 2022. It aimed to strengthen the attractiveness of the sector by offering a concrete, accessible and engaging view of careers in health and care.
The programme included a full day of conferences and testimonies from professionals to help participants understand the realities of the sector, while 29 immersive workshops offered an active introduction to the professions. Visitors were able to learn resuscitation techniques, take part in simulated emergency situations and explore practices such as rehabilitation through virtual reality. Practical scenarios in nursing, obstetrics and radiology completed the programme, providing an overview of the skills and responsibilities associated with these professions.
Stands hosted by associations representing regulated and medical health professions also allowed visitors to interact directly with professionals.
The event also served as a meeting point for stakeholders in training and employment. The Luxembourg Association of Medical Students, DeWidong, the National School of Health of Luxembourg, the Nursing Student Association Luxembourg and the University of Luxembourg presented study pathways and career prospects. At the same time, a career village brought together around 30 employers, as well as the Luxembourg Hospitals Federation (FHL) and the Confederation of Care and Assistance Providers (COPAS).
On this occasion, Martine Deprez, minister of Health and Social Security, stated: “‘Healthcareers Day’ fully illustrates our desire to bring citizens, and in particular young people and people in career change, closer to the realities on the ground. By offering a concrete and interactive immersion, this initiative allows a better understanding of the richness and diversity of health and care professions.”
She emphasised: “Faced with the current challenges of the sector, it is essential to inspire vocations and to promote these essential professions. I welcome the success of this first edition and the commitment of the many actors mobilised to showcase these meaningful careers.”
