Luxembourg's Government Commission for Quality, Fraud and Food Safety, as the focal point of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), has announced the "Safety on My Plate" conference, which will be held on Thursday 9 June 2022 at Forum Geesseknäppchen in Luxembourg City, in the presence of the Minister of Consumer Protection, Minister of Health, Paulette Lenert, and the Minister of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development, Claude Haagen.

Introductions to the different checks of the food chain followed by an exchange with the experts will take place during a "meet and eat" event.

The conference is intended to increase the transparency for consumers of the functioning of the food chain checking systems in Luxembourg.

Thus, experts from the various state checking services will introduce via short presentations the official checks carried out at the level of animal feed, animal welfare, organic farming, food microbiology, food hygiene and new foods.

Following these presentations, the experts will welcome the participants to thematic stands to deepen the topics introduced around a dinner aperitif during which will be offered, among other things, culinary surprises in the field of new foods.

The conference will be moderated by Joseph Rodesch, also known as Mr Science.

Registration is free, but as places are limited, prior registration is required via: https://gd.lu/4q01f7.

International Food Safety Day

The Safety on My Plate event is organised within the framework of the World Health Organization's International Food Safety Day and the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, and is held annually on 7 June.

The slogan of this international day "Food safety is everyone's business" is a remainder that every link in the food chain, from producer to consumer, must play its part in guaranteeing safe food
