The Grand Duchy will host the 4th World Conference on Forests and Parks for Public Health, where UNature Luxembourg is organising a series of events for the general public.

This May, Luxembourg City will host two flagship events highlighting the essential link between nature and public health: the 4th edition of the World Conference on Forests and Parks for Public Health; complementing this scientific conference will be a free public programme entitled "And if we were nature?". Organised by UNature in collaboration with the World Society on Forests and Parks for Public Health, these events will take place from 21 to 24 May 2025, at LuxExpo The Box.

These two complementary events will bring together international experts who will explore, alongside participants, how nature influences our health and well-being at every stage of life—from childhood to old age, at home and at work. First, the scientific conference will bring together over a hundred international researchers and specialists to study the links between green spaces and public health. This event represents a unique opportunity for Luxembourg to engage in the global debate on nature-based health solutions and explore how nature can play a transformative role in improving public health in cities around the world.

Next, true to its mission to build a bridge between the scientific community and the general public, UNature is organising a series of events, open to the public, entitled "And if we were nature?". These events will translate complex research into accessible interpretations while fostering exchanges between experts and citizens. These meetings invite participants to join world-renowned experts, researchers, policymakers and educators to explore three main themes: nature and mental health, environmental education and nature-based urban planning.

These sessions will address some of the most pressing questions of our time, emphasising solutions derived from research and community action. They will invite everyone to reimagine our connection to the natural world. Through inspiring talks, interactive panel discussions and practical workshops, participants will discover how nature can become a powerful lever for public health, in Luxembourg and around the world.

These UNature conferences are organised with the support of the Health Directorate of the Ministry of Health and Social Security, the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth, and the City of Luxembourg, among others.

A programme for the general public, experts and young people

The programme will begin on Wednesday 21 May at 16:00 with a public session dedicated to nature and mental health, followed by the official launch of the scientific programme.

The following two days will offer a rich and stimulating program for both specialists and the general public. During the day, scientists will present their latest research on the impact of nature on physical and mental health. In the evening, the public will be invited to participate in panel discussions, discussions with experts and interactive sessions.

Through engaging dialogues and concrete case studies, experts will share their knowledge and experiences to better understand how to integrate nature into our daily lives and maximize its benefits. The conference is held in English with simultaneous translation into French.
