On 1 October 2015, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) will be hlding a conference on regional climate modelling entitled 'The Past, Present and Future of Regional Climate Modelling'.
The talk will be given by Professor Filippo Giorgi, Head of the 'Earth Systems Physics' department of the International Center for Theoretical Physics in Italy.
Known for his contributions to the field of climate modelling, Professor Giorgi is one of the most cited scientists in the field of geosciences. From 2002-2008, he was one of the Vice-Chairs of the expert Working Group I of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.
The event has been organised within the framework of the 10th General Assembly of the 'Climate Limited-area Modelling' (CLM) community, taking place between 29 September and 2 October 2015 in Luxembourg.
The CLM community assembles international scientists who develop and apply the COSMO computer model to simulate climate at a regional level. Dr. Andrew Ferrone is a member of the CLM community on behalf of LIST.
The lecture will be held in English at the 41 Rue du Brill LIST premises in Belvaux and open to any member of the public free of charge.
