Staff from food services company, Sodexo, have clubbed together to make a furniture donation to the non-profit Stëmm vun der Strooss.
Inspired by the company’s graphic coordinator, Annie Riquet, who wondered why one would “throw out your old furniture when others can make good use of it?” the collection resulted in a donation of eight tables and 32 chairs, which were given to the Schweesdreps workshop in Esch-sur-Alzette.
The donation builds on a partnership between the two entities that has existed since 2014.
For Anne Waringo, who is responsible for the Schweesdreps project said the furniture was needed, and will be used in the centre’s refectory.
The director of Stëmm vun der Strooss, Alexandra Oxacelay also said that the recognition of the needs of others was important. “30 people actually benefit and appreciate their actual work at the Schweesdreps”, she said.
