On Thursday 27 April 2017, volunteers from the International Red Cross of Luxembourg organised their "Afterwork Swimming" at the "Les Thermes" aquatic and leisure centre in Strassen for the 8th time.
This charity sporting event, organised this year to allow poor children to go on holiday, puts companies against each other to compete in aquatic activities and win the trophy.
The nine participating companies, with a total of 70 people, had the opportunity to test their endurance, compete against each other in various aquatic disciplines and tried to win the title of the best team.
The evening ended with the Red Cross check presentation ceremony, in the presence of the President of the trade union CNI Les Thermes, Gaston Grieveldinger.
A total of €6,500 was collected at the event, including the participation fee but also special support from the companies involved.
The winners were: State Street Bank as the biggest winner 2017; Arendt & Medernach for best endurance; State Street Bank for the best team in relay race; Arnaud Mezergue (28.44) and Isa Klein (32.0) as fastest swimmers (man and woman); Jean-Pierre Mernier and Edit Van Der Schilden for fastest gliding (men and women); Charles Ries and Pia Denzer for fastest running on water (man and woman).
