The ‘La colline aux enfants’ crèches in Mersch, Ettelbruck and Wiltz, have awarded SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde a cheque for 476.05.

This is the third time that the La colline aux enfants crèches have supported SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde through a creative project carried out in the crèches of Wiltz, Ettelbruck and Mersch.

For a month and a half, the children, from the age of 18 months, have, with the help of the educators, tinkered with all sorts of small objects: Christmas balls, decorative objects, prints or greeting cards.

It was at the Christmas market in Wiltz, on 9 December, that the staff at La colline aux enfants sold these creations and collected € 476.05.  Many parents attended in support of their children and the project.

This is an activity that is very close to the heart of the director, Marina Djokic. Beyond learning autonomy and creativity, it is also an opportunity for children to think about others, to offer a little of themselves. "Children help children," says the director. According to her, this project is not only for the children, but also for the staff. It allows to mobilise it around a common project and she concluded that: "It is a beneficial action for everyone, topped off by an evening with many contacts. It's a beautiful closing of the year.”

When the cheque was being awarded, Viviane Lima, who is the development educator at SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde, warmly thanked the management, the staff and the children for this beautiful gesture.

The amount will be allocated to projects in Mali under the new Community Support Programs for the Protection of Children (PACOPE).
