On Thursday 19 December 2024, Stëmm vun der Strooss, a local non-profit organisation promoting the social and professional integration of disadvantaged people, announced that it is setting aside a budget of €20,000 to buy 500 sleeping bags.

The non-profit said it was currently faced with "very high demand" for sleeping bags.

In this context, Stëmm vun der Strooss reported that it recently received a donation of €3,000 from the Rotary Club (RC) Horizon Luxembourg towards this solidarity mission. The club's social service committee has an annual budget, which comes from Rotarians' membership fees and is intended to support charitable projects.

To honour this initiative, Alexandra Oxacelay, Director of Stëmm vun der Strooss, invited Georges Peiffer, Eric Osch and David Laborier, members of the social action committee of RC Luxembourg Horizon, to the Saxophone reception structure. This is a safe resting area for people living on the street, located at 24 Rue de Hollerich. After the traditional photo session with the entire Saxophone team, Alexandra Oxacelay introduced the guests to the centre and its various activities.
