The City of Luxembourg has reported that it recently donated 450 free-entry tickets for the "Wanterpark" outdoor ice skating rink in Kinnekswiss to local non-profit organisations.

The recipients were the Fondation Maison de la Porte Ouverte, the association Hëllef um Terrain (HUT), the Luxembourg Red Cross, the National Reception Office (ONA), the refugee holding centre and Mir wëllen iech ons Heemecht weisen ASBL, as well as the disability-related associations Zesummen Aktiv (ZAK) and Trisomie21.

The City of Luxembourg said this charitable act will give applicants for international protection (asylum seekers), beneficiaries of temporary protection and people with special needs an opportunity to enjoy this winter activity.

The Wanterpark will run until 1 January 2025 inclusive. Opening hours: Sunday to Thursday, from 11:00 to 21:00 (establishments may choose to stay open until 22:00); Friday and Saturday, from 11:00 to 22:00 (possibly until 23:00); Christmas Eve (24 December), from 11:00 to 18:00.

A similarly festive charitable initiative took place last week. On Tuesday 3 December 2024, the Chrëschtmaart Place d'Armes association, in the presence of Luxembourg City Mayor Lydie Polfer and Alderwoman Corinne Cahen, presented a check for €1,000 to the Fondation Wonschstär. The amount was collected thanks to the crèche installed in the Christmas market in Place d'Armes in 2023.

This year, visitors can donate to Kannerland - Foyer de Jour du Groupe Elisabeth, near the crèche installed at the kiosk in Place d'Armes.
