On Thursday 30 April 2026, Stëmm vun der Strooss, a Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation which supports people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable members of society, reported that it had raised €9,770 at the latest “Velooccasiounsmaart" at Belle Etoile shopping centre.

Stëmm vun der Strooss reported that for the fourth consecutive year, the teams of Belle Etoile, represented by their director Manu Konsbruck, mobilised in support of associations Catch a Smile and Stëmm vun der Strooss for the now traditional "Velooccasiounsmaart" (second-hand bicycle market).

According to the NGO, through this initiative, 1,954 bicycles were sold, raising a total of €9,770. An amount that Stëmm vun der Strooss said “once again highlights the generosity and dedication of our partners and volunteers”.

The official donation ceremony, organised in Sanem at the initiative of Director of the Stëmm vun der Strooss Alexandra Oxacelay, gave Fabienne Dimmer, President of Catch a Smile, and Manu Konsbruck the opportunity to discover several activities of Stëmm vun der Strooss, including the therapeutic workshops Caddy and Schweessdrëps, as well as the Immo Stëmm service.

Stëmm vun der Strooss noted that its director, it is essential to continue this momentum in order to improve the working conditions of people who are far removed from the primary labour market due to a lack of qualifications, difficult life paths or health issues.

Alexandra Oxacelay explained: “The €4,885 we are receiving today will help fund part of the ‘Stëmm Iessen’ project, which aims to promote digital inclusion for people undergoing professional reintegration within the Caddy workshop and to sustainably improve their employability. In practical terms, participants will learn to use digital tools to carry out inventories, monitor stock, prepare orders and organise deliveries.”

Bob Ritz, Communications Officer for Stëmm vun der Strooss, added: “I would especially like to thank our internal volunteers, as well as volunteers from partner companies such as Sodexo, Fidelity International, Apollo, the Kleiderbörse Asbl and a group of high school students. Without their valuable help, particularly during the bicycle collection, this initiative would not have been possible. This project perfectly illustrates the tangible impact of solidarity by supporting both social inclusion and digital transition for the benefit of the most vulnerable people.”
