Stëmm vun der Strooss, a local non-profit organisation which supports people experiencing homelessness and vulnerable members of society, has reported that LALUX Assurances recently donated €6,000 to the charity, thereby contributing to the remuneration of the organisation’s staff.

The staff in question is made up of twelve people over the age of 50 who are employed in the various workplaces of Stëmm vun der Strooss, the organisation noted.

On 1 March in Leudelange, Noelle Gerin, Sustainability Manager, Tania Cagnato, Building and Restaurant Manager, Marc Parage, HR Manager at LALUX Assurances, Coralie Kirchmann, Restaurant Manager and Geoffrey Antonelli, Operations Manager at EUREST, handed over the cheque to Alexandra Oxacelay, Director at Stëmm vun der Strooss. Under the direction of Mrs Cagnato Tania, LALUX Assurances collected the money for the donation during the year 2023 through a “Micro Market” installed at the cafeteria in the hall of their headquarters.

This "Micro Market" is an initiative to fight food waste, offering the unsold menus of the company restaurant, as well as a variety of other dishes, at a reduced price to take away. Any visitor to the building can help themselves there. With the support of its catering partner Eurest, the "Micro Market" has been a real success since the end of 2022, LALUX Assurances noted. The company decided to donate the proceeds from this initiative to institutions that prioritise social objectives every year.

Alexandra Oxacelay explained: "This generous support will help us to continue to support people who, for various reasons, such as illness or long-term unemployment, find it difficult to find their place on the regular labour market in Luxembourg."
