The fifth anniversary edition of Luxembourg's Race for the Cure event, organised by Think Pink Luxembourg, took place in Echternach on Sunday 15 October 2023.

The organisers have described this special edition of the race, which took place outdoors on a crisp Autumn morning, as a "resounding success", with all 500 available slots sold out in advance.

Think Pink Luxembourg recalled that Race for the Cure is not just a race but "a powerful symbol of our collective pursuit to find cures for cancer". Race for the Cure is Europe's largest sporting event for women’s health, bringing together 32 European countries to raise awareness of women's cancers and generate funds for cancer research.

Luxembourg plays a role in this global movement, with a special focus on supporting the research efforts of the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH). Funds raised from registration fees, donations and sales at the event will directly contribute to this cause, financing a research student at the LIH.

Race for the Cure Luxembourg is made possible by the volunteers of Think Pink Luxembourg, a local charity with a three-fold mission: raising awareness of women's cancers, providing information and support to women battling cancer, and raising funds to support cancer research in Luxembourg.

The fifth anniversary edition was a day filled with "unity, inspiration and a shared commitment to defeating cancer," noted the organisers. Participants embarked on a 3 km run/walk around the lake in Echternach, accompanied by music, a BBQ and a range of awareness-raising initiatives.

At the time of writing, this edition of Race for the Cure Luxembourg had raised more than €15,000. For further information on how to support this cause, visit https://www.raceforthecure.eu/en/Races/Race/Id/43
