Auchan Kirchberg donation to Stëmm vun der Strooss;
For the sixth time, Auchan Retail Luxembourg has raised money for Stëmm vun der Strooss; the most recent collection amounted to €4,493.70 and was presented to the charity for the homeless and disadvantaged members of society for their new social restaurant in Ettelbruck.
The collaboration with Stëmm vun der Strooss goes back to 2009: as every year during the Christmas season from November to December, a stand was set up in the Kirchberg branch to collect money for the organisation. Customers could have their presents wrapped there and put a donation in an urn destined for the charity.
Not only were the management of Auchan Luxembourg involved, but so too were the entire cashier staff who had committed themselves to this charity action.
On Thursday 26 January 2023, Jean-Luc Carré, Director of Auchan Kirchberg, presented a cheque to the Director of the Stëmm vun der Strooss, Alexandra Oxacelay. The meeting took place at the hypermarket and was an opportunity to exchange information about the status of the new social restaurant in Ettelbruck, where the donation will be invested.
It was also the time to talk about the numbers reached in 2022, as the Caddy service was able to collect a total of 141 tonnes of food, an increase of 46% compared to the previous year. This food is provided free-of-charge by Hypermarkets and Drives to prepare meals, soups, juices, sandwiches and much more. These meals are then served in the Stëmm's social restaurants in Hollerich and Esch an der Alzette, as well as in Ettelbruck.
