On Wednesday 30 March 2022, Luxembourg-headquartered digital and media society Docler Holding had announced a combined donation of €200,000 to Red Cross Luxembourg (Croix-Rouge Luxembourgeoise) and Red Cross Hungary (Magyar Vöröskereszt).
The donation will be shared between the two Red Cross affiliations in their efforts to procure needed goods and organise humanitarian intervention for those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. Additionally, this donation will support the on-site teams helping to evacuate thousands of people, treating wounded individuals, and transporting them to hospitals.
Luc Scheer, Member of the Management Board of Red Cross Luxembourg, stated: “For all the people in Ukraine and those fleeing the violence, we warmly thank Docler Holding. Their generous donation helps us continue to save lives and alleviate the suffering of displaced families.”
The Red Cross allocates their donation to support people that have moved to different areas in Ukraine (internally displaced people) and those that have had to stay within their areas of the country. In Kiev, the subway system has been used to secure “safe spaces” where 8,000 people have been helped across eighteen stations.
As about 80% of people reaching the Ukrainian borders arrive by foot, the Red Cross is providing buses to ease their transportation. So far, over 30,000 people have been evacuated thanks to these measures.
Hospitals in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions are receiving support from the Red Cross with not only medicine and medical equipment, but also food and essential kits for victims - especially those with disabilities and elderly internal refugees. 2,000 Red Cross volunteers have received first-aid training to treat those in need of medical care.
In Luxembourg, the Red Cross offers everyday assistance to refugees and on a daily basis, adapts its services to fulfill refugee families’ needs. The Red Cross also aims to create a mobile app where refugees can find essential information via QR code.
Along with this contribution, the Gattyán Foundation and FITEQ – The International Teqball Federation – have donated €25,000 worth of medicine to victims of the crisis.
György Gattyán, Founder and Owner of Docler Holding, stated: “For over two decades, Docler Holding and The Gattyán Foundation have supported communities and people who are most in need of aid. The current situation in Ukraine is having a dramatic effect on our societies, and we hope that our donations will help those most affected by the crisis. Our partnership with the Red Cross aligns with our core values, and we hope that our work together will bring all of us one step closer to peace.”
